The Board will discuss and take appropriate action regarding a Resolution to Initiate the amendment process of the District’s current local innovation plan. As a District of Innovation, EPISD has increased local control over District operations. The proposed exemption to the current local innovation plan could possibly allow the District to provide  alternative group health coverage to its employees without exiting TRS ActiveCare.  The Board may not vote on the adoption of proposed amendments to the current local innovation plan unless the final version of the proposed amendments has been available on the District’s website for at least 30 days, the Board has notified the Commissioner of Education of its intention to vote on the proposed amendments of the proposed plan, and the District-wide Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) has approved the proposed amendments of the proposed plan by majority vote.  If the DEIC committee adopts the amendments, the proposed plan and amendments may be adopted by an affirmative vote of two-thirds majority of the Board.

It is recommended that the Board adopt the Resolution to Initiate the Process of amending the District’s current local innovation plan and authorize Administration to take all appropriate steps as required by statute, as recommended.
