The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) recommends revisions to the local policy as part of its Local Update 109. This local policy on transportation management student transportation with the revised language, in hazardous traffic conditions and high risk areas, is recommended for inclusion in the district's policy manual which is a result of SB 195. These changes expanded the reasons for which a district may apply for an additional transportation allotment for students residing within two miles of a campus to include areas presenting a high risk of violence in addition to the existing factor of hazardous traffic conditions. If the district applies for additional funding based on either or both factors, the board must adopt an appropriate resolution describing the areas.
The proposed revisions were reviewed and approved by the Executive Cabinet on March 6, 2018 and by Leadership on February 27, 2018. The proposed revisions were reviewed by the Policy Board Committee on March 8, 2018
